give back

Being a Life Junkie means living on purpose and in service.

By choosing to live in service, we choose to volunteer our time and our money to causes that we feel matter and makes our hearts happy.

When you buy a product or experience from Life Junkie, you are giving back to the community.

We donate $1 from every candle (retail sale) and donate $5 from the sale of our special Give Back Candle.  We have chosen charities that mean a lot to us and we hope you will join in helping to raise money and raise as much awareness and money as we can throughout the year.

Animals

Animals teach us so very much about life, such as compassion, humility, unconditional love and commitment. They teach you to be present in the moment, trust, loyalty and playfulness; they bring so much joy. I cherish all of the animals I have been blessed to have met and been a fur-mom to. All of the animals I have shared life memories with have been adopted from rescue foundations.

When you choose to support animals, you are choosing to support two foundations that mean a great deal to me and are near and dear to my heart.

AARCS

The Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS) is a grassroots animal welfare organization based in Calgary with a foundation of compassion and kindness, embodied by its hard-working staff, volunteers, foster homes and supporters. Our goal is to help homeless animals in our community and enacting societal change so that someday we may all witness a Compassionate World for All Animals.

The Alice Sanctuary

I dream about having space and time to be able to do what the people at Alice Sanctuary (and numerous other rescue foundations do).  I have a deep love and appreciation for animals as well the people who dedicate their lives to saving and rehabilitating them.

The Alice Sanctuary is a not-for-profit, interactive sanctuary for animals located in Alberta, Canada, whose aim is to connect people and rescued farm animals.

There are other sanctuaries in Alberta who rescue and rehabilitate farm animals, giving them the life they deserve to live. We all rely heavily on donations for our day-to-day operations, and are generally reaching out to the same pool of donors. We also often apply for the same grants due to the affinity of our goals. Here we would like to emphasize that we fully embrace all other sanctuaries and rescue organizations. Anyone with a heart for helping animals in need, anyone with a sense of compassion and duty to do their part to better the world around them, anyone who endeavours to provide a voice for the vulnerable among us – we feel blessed to be part of such a movement.

Cancer

We all have been affected by Cancer in some way; whether its knowing and supporting a loved one, losing a loved one, a survivor or in the middle of kicking cancers ass; we are all impacted by this small and mighty word.

I have lost loved ones, including a dear long-time friend and I am also a survivor.

Canadian Cancer Society

At the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS), our vision is a world where no one fears cancer. With the support of our volunteers and donors, we improve and save lives by taking a comprehensive approach to our work against more than 100 types of cancer. CCS funds research, provides services to those living with cancer, advocates on important cancer-related issues and educates and empowers people to make healthy choices.

Mental Health

This once taboo subject needs to be brought into the light. This is near and dear to our hearts; we have friends and family members who have challenges and have succumb to the challenges brought on by mental health.

Woods Homes

Woods homes provides really important programs and services; they helped a dear friend of mine in their time of need and inspired them to in turn give back and live their life in service, giving back.  They will always hold a special place in my heart.

Wood's Homes is a nationally-recognized children's mental health centre based in Calgary, AB.  They provide programs and services to 20,000 children and their families every year in Calgary, Lethbridge, Strathmore and Fort McMurray.  Founded as an orphanage in 1914 by Reverend George Wood, Wood’s Homes is today recognized across Canada for its innovative services, some of which were the first in Canada.

Woods Homes Vision

A world that values and nurtures the mental health of all people and when needed, ensures quality, timely help for all.

Children

Children are our future and hold a special place in our hearts. They deserve a fair start to life and help when they need it most.

Stollery Foundation

When my oldest niece was a few days old, she went into open heart surgery and the Stollery Foundation was instrumental in her care, recovery and helping my sister & her husband through such a difficult time.

The Stollery Children's Hospital hosts the only pediatric emergency in northern Alberta, it is the referral centre for all complex pediatric heart surgeries and transplants, a major organ transplantation centre, home to Canada's largest regional program for neonatal intensive and intermediate care, and provides some of the most advanced treatments for child-health issues in the country.  Through donor support, the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation continues to give the sickest kids the best chance to live a long and healthy life.

The Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation will give the sickest kids the best chance, anywhere in the world, to live a long and healthy life.
